Crushing Equipment
High-Pressure Grinding Roller (HPGR)
The high-pressure grinding roller (HPGR) crushes ore between two counter-rotating rolls under high pressure. It is placed in tertiary or quaternary circuits, often ahead of ball mills or replacing cone crushers.
Technical parameters
Inter-particle crushing produces micro-fractures that reduce grinding energy downstream. The machine is suited for hard and abrasive ores where conventional crushers struggle with throughput or product fineness.
Model codes such as GM52×25 encode roller diameter and length. As the model number increases, roller surface area, throughput capability and installed motor power rise. The table helps the engineer match a machine to the required feed size and approximate throughput band. Actual performance depends on ore characteristics and circuit configuration.

Standard-model catalogue figures. Actual capacity, power draw and wear life shift with ore properties, feed gradation and circuit conditions. Use them to shortlist, then confirm the duty by testwork, flowsheet calculation and a written confirmation from the manufacturer.
What decides the selection
Before referencing the table, the project engineer should define the ore's work index, abrasiveness, maximum particle size in the feed and the target product P80. Moisture and clay content affect the HPGR's choke-fed requirements. Circuit layout, whether open or closed with screening, also changes the duty point. These inputs allow the supplier to confirm the appropriate model from the range.
